Kristen Bell Opens Up About Husband's Drug Relapse

Kristen Bell vows to stand by Dax Shepard after addiction relapse because 'he's very, very worth it'

Kristen Bell's husband Dax Shepard has recently suffered a sobriety relapse and it appears Bell intends to stand right by his side throughout it all.

Shepard (left) had revealed on a September 25 episode of his podcast, Armchair Expert, that he had relapsed on pain medication following a motorcycle accident. However, when he realized that he was beginning to take more than the doctor's recommended dosage, he eventually came clean to his wife.

Bell added she would support her husband and they would work through their problems together.

'He's addicted to evolution, ' said Frozen and The Good Place star to Ellen. He is addicted to evolving. Now, Bell said, Shepard has a new plan to help with another similar incident in taking painkillers, which was recommended to him after a series of injuries in extreme sports. But he is "addicted to growth", Bell added.

"Like we have a plan". The thing that I love about Dax would be... he managed to inform me and inform us now and say, 'We want another strategy.' We've got a strategy: when he must take medicine for any reason, I need to administer it. However, Dax said to her about needing a much more robust plan than that. "I was faltering. I have to do some sort of emotional work to figure out why I wanted to use again'".

The couple, who shares daughters Lincoln, seven, and Delta, five, are now "going back to therapy", Bell shared.

"I felt so awful about the lying", Shepard said then. And I start [ed] getting really scared, and I'm starting to feel really lonely.

An episode I hoped I'd never have to record, but one I felt I owed to all the handsome Armcheries, who have been on this ride with me for the last couple years. "Then all the prescriptions ran out, and I'm now just taking 30mL oxys that I've bought".
