Soon, there will be no excuse not to at least try one of the best games ever released.

Right now, Rocket League is a premium title that typically costs around $19.99 or your regional equivalent.

Rocket League will no longer require a PlayStation Plus subscription on PlayStation or Nintendo Switch Online subscription in order to play online on those platforms. Now, we've got details on what we can look forward to in this historic update!

For those unaware, Rocket League is a Vehicle Football (soccer) game that is developed and published by Psyonix. This new update is to prepare the game for the free-to-play transition.

Psyonix has also confirmed that an in-game event called Llama-Rama will launch soon after the game becomes free to play, and that the update that will be rolling out on all platforms will be going live tomorrow; laying the groundwork for what's to come next week. Existing players will be able to link their account through the Epic Games Store and use the same account across different consoles and PC launchers.

Current owners eligible for Legacy Status will get the items they qualify for added to their inventory. Regardless, new Rocket League players will have an extra battle-car to buy if they so desire. This update is going to be launching a bunch of new content for players to enjoy!

Season 1 - A brand new season arrives with new tournaments, new competitive play, and more! Epic will be holding a Llama-Rama event that involves both Rocket League and Fortnite.

KitGuru Says: The changes coming to Rocket League this year are massive, particularly when it comes to those who have been playing the game on Steam for years.

On top of that, Rocket League will add a revamped Tournaments mode and refined Challenges.

Finally, Rocket League will begin for free on September 23 at 8 AM PDT (8:30 PM PDT), and players can download it from the Epic Games store.

One final reminder: Rocket League was already a game that had its fair share of microtransactions.

For those who do not know, Epic Games purchased Rocket League developers Psyonix back in May of 2019.
