New iPad 8 and iPad Air: price, release date

Apple 8th-gen iPad, new iPad Air launched, price starts at ₹29,990

Apple launched the first iPad Air in 2013 as the fifth version of the full-sized iPad, but then shifted away from the line in recent years as it focused on the iPad Pro. With the iPad Pro, Apple stuck a bunch of sensors in the top bezel to power Face ID.

Apple also announced an update for its most affordable iPad offering.

Of course, there is support for the 2nd-gen Apple Pencil and the lightning port has been replacing by a USB Type-C port, as various rumours suggested. We found that the previous seventh generation could handle a lot, and we expect the eighth gen to be even zippier.

It shouldn't be surprising that the 4th-gen iPad Air is far more expensive when compared to the regular iPad 8th-gen models, especially since the specs are much better. And yes, this is the chip that's normally saved for new iPhones, but those aren't here just yet.

The A14 Bionic, which will ship first with the new iPad Air, is going to be Apple's fastest yet. The in-house developer chip has a 5-nanometer process technology that makes up this impressive silicon processor.

Apple iPadOS 14 should run with absolutely no compromises or issues on the iPad Air, allowing you to take full advantage of multitasking and any application you throw at it. It's pretty similar to the iPad Pro design, but there's no True Depth front-facing camera for Face ID here.

However, the star of the hour is the new iPad Air, which will make the previously announced iPad Pro a relic from the past. The new iPad comes equipped with the latest A14 Bionic chip, which is supposed to make it the fastest iPad ever.

One of the highlight's of the event was the new iPad Air, which was significantly updated and now resembles the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro with a larger screen starts at US$799.

If your goal is to have as much screen real estate as possible, then the iPad Air 4 is the clear victor in this regard, especially since the bezels are much thinner. That's a pretty big leap in terms of speed, and you don't have to pay an arm and a leg to get that performance either. It'll ship in five different colors: Space Gray, Sky Blue, Silver, Rose Gold, and Green. The Magic Keyboard and the Smart Keyboard Folio for iPad Air will be available for Rs 27,900 and Rs 15, 900, respectively.
