Karan Johar Issues Official Statement: Slams Drug Consumption Allegations

NCB summons Dharma Productions honcho for probe

They were taken for questioning and a case has been registered against Sanam and Abigail for drug consumption under Section 20 of NDPS. I would like to place on record that I do not know these individual personally and neither of these two individuals are "aides" or "close aides".

Separate teams of the narcotics agency also grilled actors Shraddha Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Sara Ali Khan in the drug case related to actor Sushant Sigh Rajput's death. Dismissing the claims that he is his "close aide", Karan said that he doesn't know him personally. There were reports that NCB was planning to probe an old video that Johar had posted of his house party which had several Bollywood celebrities in attendance.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) today arrested Kshitij Ravi Prasad, who was once employed with Karan Johar's Dharma Production. In his statement, Karan Johar has stated that he does not consume narcotics, or promote the consumption of any such substance. I would like to further state that several media news channels have been airing news reports that Kshitij Prasad and Anubhav Chopra are my "aides"/"close aides". He concluded the official statement, suggesting that he will move legally against this baseless attack on him, to protect his rights, if the media did not restrain from spreading false allegations. Even there were reports that two employees of Karan's Dharma Productions have been summoned for investigation by NCB.

"All these slanderous and malicious statements, news articles and news clippings have unnecessarily subjected me, my family, and my colleagues, and Dharma Productions, to hatred, contempt and ridicule", read a part of his statement. On Friday, NCB had also questioned Dharma Productions' Anubhav Chopra in relation with the drug-nexus in the Hindi film industry. Johar added that Chopra was briefly associated with his banner as an assistant director and worked only on two projects. He has now alleged that NCB tried to force him to falsely implicate KaranJohar and the other big names from Dharma Productions. The official statement by the Dharma Productions head has now created a new stir on social media platforms. Netizens have targetted the director for not giving equal chance to the outsiders like Rajput in Bollywood.

Ashok Jain further said, till date 18 to 19 persons have been arrested in connection as part of the probe into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead at his Bandra home on June 14.
