Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can try xCloud in beta today

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers Can Preview Microsoft xCloud Starting Today

(Pocket-lint) - Microsoft is opening up the xCloud game streaming service to more people from today.

To join the beta it is necessary to have an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate account, an Android device and download this app. The Game Pass Ultimate beta app rolls out today at 9AM ET on the Google Play Store, but you'll need a $15 per month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to use it.

As has been well documented at this point, xCloud will be an Android exclusive service at launch, skipping over iOS due to Apple's own App Store guidelines. Once you launch it, you will be asked to sign in to your Microsoft account.

Starting this Tuesday, August 11, about 30 Xbox Game Pass games are available in Project xCloud, but as we anticipated before, it will not be until next September 15 when the starting gun is fired with more than 100 titles now available on Xbox Game Pass.

Hollywood screenwriter and one-time games journalist Gary Whitta has had some cool guests on his Animal Crossing-themed Twitch show Animal Talking, and the most recent episode featured one of gaming's most high-profile executives - Xbox's Phil Spencer. The xCloud beta preview will be discontinued on the 11th of September, then xCloud will launch properly as part of Game Pass Ultimate on the 15th of September. Have many of you tried xCloud?
