Werder eye Man United talent Chong on loan; no Kruse return

39;Chong wants to go to the Bundesliga'- Man Utd starlet's agent speaks out amid Werder Bremen links

The 32-year-old, who left Werder to join Fenerbahce last summer, has made it clear that he wants to return to the Bundesliga after his contract with the Turkish side has been terminated.

Chong came on and made a difference as Manchester United beat LASK 2-1 on Wednesday night at Old Trafford.

Chong's deal at United was due to expire at the end of the 2019/20 campaign, but the club chose to extend his stay by a further two years.

However, he is frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities he has had and United agree it could be worthwhile to send him out to play more competitive football.

Chong's representative stated: "Tahith wants to go to the Bundesliga".

Werder sporting director, Frank Baumann, revealed his team were interested, but hinted at a loan deal rather than permanent transfer.

However, Werder have emerged as a potential next destination for Chong over the past week, with reports in Germany stating that the youngster's agent Erkan Alkan has held talks with the German club in Bremen. We can add two or three more players. We'll talk to Man United about it on Thursday.

Borrowing players from top clubs like this can make sense to us.

Werder Bremen are expected to reach an agreement with the player soon and a two-year loan deal is in the pipeline.
