The exhaust pipes were designed by Capristo to reduce the back pressure, thus improving performance.

With the added hybridised power bump (up nearly 70kW from the 'normal' Aventador SVJ), and subsequent added weight of batteries; the SCV12 boasts a new-generation carbon fibre monocoque which was developed to comply with FIA prototype safety rules, without the need for an internal rollcage.

"The result is an engaging and uncompromising vehicle, born to race and to showcase on the track the characteristics that have made Lamborghini famous worldwide, guaranteeing unique and special emotions for both the driver and onlookers".

At 250 km/h, it's capable of achieving 1 200 kg of downforce.

Its mechanical underpinnings are bolstered by an equally dramatic aero package, which Lamborghini claims to yield more downforce than a GT3 auto.

After several teases from the iconic Italian brand, the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 limited-edition, track-only hypercar, with the most powerful V12 fitted in any Lambo to date, is finally here. The power is handled by a new X-trac sequential six-speed gearbox as a structural element within the chassis, combined with a rear-wheel drive system. The power-to-weight ratio? An exceptional 1.66 horsepower/kg.

"The Essenza SCV12 represents the purest track driving experience that our brand can offer, an engineering feat that highlights the inextricable link between our cars and the asphalt of the track", Stefano Domenicali, CEO, and chairman of Automobili Lamborghini, explained in a press release. All four wheels are magnesium alloy and the brakes were developed by Brembo. The bonnet bears a double air-intake with a central rib which separates the hot airflow coming from the radiator and sends the cold air to the airscoop located on the roof. At the front, there's a splitter and two lateral elements, to go with the vertical fins on the side sills and the large adjustable double-profile rear wing.

Its multi-function wheel was even inspired by the control interfaces found in Formula One, and the rest of the cockpit is similarly racecar-spartan, down to the FIA-homologated carbon-shell seats. The 40 owners will be assisted by the Squadra Corse technical staff with the support of Emanuele Pirro, five-time victor of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and an excellent tutor for the customer-drivers; and Marco Mapelli, Lamborghini Squadra Corse Factory Driver.

Those very few who will get to own the Essenza SCV12 will automatically become part of a very exclusive club which would give them access to special programs to drive their hypercar on the most prestigious circuits in the world. Each auto will have a personalized garage and dedicated services, including webcams to allow customers to monitor their cars 24 hours a day using an app.
