The Umbrella Academy season 2 episode 1 clip opens with nuclear apocalypse

Still from The Umbrella Academy season 2 trailer

Based on the the comic by Gerard Way (yes, that Gerard Way), The Umbrella Academy follows six superpowered siblings raised by an eccentric and controlling father who reunite after his death.

"No, this may't be proper", says 5 within the opening scene of the brand new season, which you'll watch above.

The official trailer of The Umbrella Academy gave us a taste of what awaits us in this second season, and now the time has come to focus on the apocalyptic initial sequence.

The reports said that Elizabeth Padden and Lauren Otero have joined with the writing team of The Umbrella Academy Season 3. That's until Five understands the roads of Dallas are inhabited by Allied troops, and JFK has formally declared war on these.

The usual suspects are back for their second superhero adventure, with Ellen Page, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda and Justin H. Min all returning.

Even after the siblings arrive to help, with a massive mushroom cloud looming in the distance things aren't looking too good, and Hazel ends up transporting Five to safety.

As for what we can expect in series 2, Netflix tease: "Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya's 2019 apocalypse was risky".

Blasted back in time to 1960s Dallas, the scattered siblings build new lives for themselves - until a new doomsday threat pulls them back together. Over a three year period. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which - spoiler alert! - turns out is a result of the group's disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins.

The second series opening of the Netflix superhero show has been unleashed for fans, and if nothing else, this season two opening for "The Umbrella Academy" is slick and pretty sadistic. But seriously, no pressure or anything.
