Borussia Dortmund chief Watzke: Man Utd haven't called about Sancho

Paul Scholes on Jadon Sancho

Owen Hargreaves has encouraged Manchester United to complete a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho - and also make a surprise swoop for Mario Mandzukic.

"Don't get me wrong, Sancho is a top-quality footballer, I think he would improve any team in world football", Scholes, who won 11 Premier League titles with United, told BT Sport.

United have been heavily linked with a move for the 20-year-old Sancho but media reports say the club have balked at Dortmund's valuation of around £100 million (RM549.8 million).

"Not even indirectly or through so-called middlemen". There has never been an offer for Jadon, but we have pre-emptively given the minimum of what should be paid.

"I don't expect there to be any problems. Jadon has accepted that he's a very pleasant, fair guy".

"The German club are at this point willing to sell and are nearly pushing the deal, as they have planned for Sancho's departure and want their 2020-21 squad intact by the time they return to training on 10 August".

"I assume that Jadon will go to training camp on Monday and play with us for the coming season".

However, the transfer window in both Germany and England does not close until October 5, a date extended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dortmund need to handle Sancho carefully as both former stars Ousmane Dembele and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang forced transfers to Barcelona in 2017 and Arsenal in 2018, respectively, by effectively going on strike.

The Red Devils' only piece of business so far has been to offload Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan, with some supporters claiming it frees up wages for Sancho.
