Arsenal best placed for Phillipe Coutinho signature

Agent provides Coutinho and Willian updates

Barcelona don't want him either, with the Catalan club hoping to sell the Brazilian and recoup as much of the fee they paid for him as possible.

Activity state that Arsenal are "gaining additional power each individual day" with regards to a deal for Coutinho, whose agent Kia Joorabchian has connections at Arsenal.

"There's a lot of genuine interest because he's a great player, so there's always interest".

However, due to the pushed back dates of the transfer window and the Champions League, Joorabchian said it may take some time for a deal to be made.

"Because the Champions League runs until August 23, it's going to be very hard for players like Coutinho to make any commitments or moves before then", Joorabchian told talkSPORT.

Arsenal could make the move more appealing to Coutinho if they are able to win the FA Cup final at the weekend, as they will at least have European football on offer.

The problem, though, is finding a buyer who can satisfy the fiscal demands placed on the player's head by Barcelona, especially in a compressed market impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

'For him to make a commitment pre having finished the Champions League.

Coutinho was one of the best players in the Premier League and so the gunners are hopeful that he will recover his form if he joins them. "He is not at all against staying at Barcelona", he added.

The report implies that any club interested in signing Coutinho would have to pay €20m (£18.2m) for the mortgage and €10m (£9.1m) to protect the Brazilian's wages.

This season Coutinho scored nine goals and provided eight assists for Bayern in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Joorabchian has also provided an update about the future of Willian, a player who has linked with the Reds a couple of months ago.

"He loves playing in the Premier League, he is adored playing in the Premier League and that is one of his priorities".
