Andy McCarthy: 'Absurd' to claim Trump's election delay tweet was impeachable offense

Trump Makes Ominous Prediction While Raging Against Mail Vote: ‘This is Going to Be the Greatest Election Disaster in History’

Now he has struck a boundary.

The suggestion that the November 3 election could be delayed was immediately condemned, and Trump was treated to several remedial lessons about who is responsible for fixing the date of the election.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu vowed his state would hold its November elections as scheduled: "End of story".

He added: "Anyone who says otherwise should never be elected to Congress again". Trump told reporters at the White House.

A split Michigan Supreme Court on Friday declined to hear a case that sought to extend the state's deadline to receive absentee ballots - a decision that left one dissenting justice "baffled and troubled" ahead of the November presidential election in the swing state. So Trump's comments about delayed results must be read in the context of his fear-mongering about inaccuracies and fraud connected to the expanded voting by mail necessitated by the coronavirus.

The dynamic has forced Trump-backed politicians to walk a delicate balance as they condemn the president's most erratic behavior and ideas while trying not to upset his die-hard loyalists.

The government announced Thursday that the USA economy plunged by a record-shattering 32.9% annual rate last quarter as the pandemic forces a wave of layoffs that shows no sign of abating.

In a 4-3 order, justices said they were not persuaded that the questions presented should be reviewed. Evanina didn't raise any alarms about that possibility, the source said.

The US President suggested the possible postponement of the election through an early Thursday tweet.

Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader, said the November 3rd election date is not yet set in stone.

"I don't believe that the president is losing significant support from Republicans", Reeves said.

As voters look for a safer alternative to in-person voting, election officials from both parties have promoted mail-in and absentee voting options.

What is more likely to be delayed is the result.

There have been a handful of moments that strained the GOP's allegiance to Trump since he emerged as his party's unlikely presidential nominee four years ago, yet his party has increasingly acquiesced to his turbulent leadership as his presidency progressed.

In an 8-7 ruling, Hayes beat Tilden by one electoral college vote, marking it one of the few presidential elections that the president elected did not lead by popular vote.

Steven Calabresi, Co-founder of Federalist Society, opposed Donald Trump's impeachment previous year.

Trump can not change the election date without the approval of Congress, and policymakers in both parties made clear they would oppose such a move.

In defending his proposal, Trump clarified that he is keen on a free and credible election, in which the results, as always, are known on Election Night, "not days, months or even years".

The 1876 election results are still debated by historians. I want to have the election.

"Glad I was able to get the very dishonest LameStream Media", Trump tweeted later on Thursday, "to finally start talking about the RISKS to our Democracy from unsafe Universal Mail-In-Voting (not Absentee Voting, which I totally support!)".

McCarthy said the people concerned about Trump's tweet should take a "deep breath" and recognize that the presidential election is decentralized into 50 state elections.

"Look, the president says things and tweets things all the time", the governor said.

"Mail-in ballots will lead to the greatest fraud", he stated, without proof. I wish we would move it up.
