Amid the unprecedented global coronavirus pandemic and national unrest in the wake of the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Rayshard Brooks, the 2020 BET Awards took place virtually this year.

CBS is airing the 20th annual BET Awards, where several superstar entertainers are performing including Alicia Keys, John Legend, Lil Wayne, plus triple threats Jennifer Hudson and Wayne Brady, among others.

Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas in January alongside his 13-year-old daughter and seven other victims.

Lil Wayne has written a handsome song in tribute to late basketball star and legend Kobe Bryant.

Speaking of the rapper and his views on the BLM movement, not too long ago, it's been revealed that Lil Wayne has been sharing a different perspective on the current Black Lives Matter protests in the aftermath of George Floyd's death at the hand of yet another case of police brutality.

Bryant has been a huge influence on the New Orleans rapper.

Bryant explained the backstory of the song in 2019 when he told him the performance motivated him.

"Heart goes out to Vanessa and the whole Black Mamba family", he continued.

"For you youngins in the comments, Lil Wayne was Kobe's favourite artist. that's the reason he was chosen".
