COVID-19 Cases Linked to One Michigan Bar

Michigan Health Officials Link Over 85 COVID-19 Cases to Local Bar

Those who went to the bar are being asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.

As of June 28, none of those who tested positive for COVID-19 were hospitalized, with most having mild symptoms while a few were asymptomatic.

The state is seeing more and more people in their 20s to 30s getting infected.

"Cases linked to Harper's are now at 85 total", the Ingham County Health Department said on its Facebook page Saturday.

'Our oversight of the line on our stairs has been successful, but trying to get customers to follow our recommendations on the public sidewalk has been challenging'.

"The multitude of people who were exposed and have become sick at harper's are now going to create you know other spot outbreaks you know reaching out from that", said Vail.

Harper's Restaurant & Brew Pub reopened at half capacity on June 8, per state guidelines, McClatchy News previously reported. "Because we do not have the authority to control lines on public property, we are left with the dilemma of staying open and letting this situation continue, or closing until we can devise a strategy to eliminate the lines entirely".

In several MI counties, employees are pushing for businesses to close again. They are scheduled to present the petition at a meeting on Wednesday.

Harper has temporarily been closed down to install new safety features. "There's no vaccine and there is no recognized cure at this time", she said.

MI health officials said to prevent the spread of the CCP virus, "people should maintain a distance of 6 feet away from others, wear a mask or face covering, wash their hands, and stay home if ill".

The Detroit Free Press reported Sunday that 30 new COVID-19 cases 100 miles away in affluent Grosse Pointe have been linked to the Harper's outbreak.

Monday's update represents an increase of 236 confirmed cases and four additional deaths. This incident marked a 600 percent jump from the prior day of two total cases.
