Cineworld Milton Keynes delays re-opening until end of July

The Cineworld in Haverhill is now scheduled to reopen on July 31

Hollywood studios have also pushed back the release of summer releases, with "Mulan" and "Tenet" for example now scheduled for August.

Cineworld, which runs multiplexes and the Picturehouse chain in the United Kingdom, as well as Regal cinemas in the USA, will now open the doors to its venues on 31 July.

Cinemas in England are, in theory, allowed to reopen this weekend, on 4 July, with Odeon now planning to stick to this date.

The Mooky Greidinger-run Cineworld confirmed its new target on Tuesday, just days after Warner Bros. "With the ongoing pandemic, this new date remains subject to final confirmation".

"With great films ahead, including Mulan, Tenet, A Quiet Place Part II, Wonder Woman 1984 and many more, we can't wait to be back".

The U.K. government confirmed last week that cinemas are allowed to reopen from July 4.

However, this has now been delayed by a number of weeks and doors will now open in Milton Keynes on Friday July 31st. But while some film venues look set to open as early as possible, one of the major chains has in fact delayed its reopening. Both Mulan and Tenet have been shifted to August releases in the last week, in large part due to ongoing restrictions in Los Angeles and NY.

Cineworld expects its cinemas to fill up to half capacity when they reopen. As parts of the US have begun to reopen, some states have seen massive spikes in infection rates.
