Arthur: Barcelona midfielder to join Juventus at the end of the season

Barcelona Manager Quique Setien Says Club Hasn't Informed Him About Arthur Melo's Departure

The proposed deal is thought to be worth around £70million, but will see Juventus pay around £9million plus 30-year-old Miralem Pjanic, who he is expected to be in Barcelona for his own medical on Sunday.

After Barcelona's disappointing 2-2 draw away at Celta Vigo, Arthur travelled to Turin to close his move to Juventus.

"(The current situation) is not normal, it all to play for and any player in that situation knows that the season is not over", said Setien.

Arthur joined the reigning La Liga champions from Gremio in 2018 and has made 72 appearances for the club, winning the league title and the Spanish Super Cup in his first season.

"Another midfielder? You'll fit right in".

Arthur had hoped to stay at Barcelona and fight for his place under Quique Setien. His predicament at Barcelona became even more deep rooted, as speculation surrounding his future starting growing like wildfire in recent weeks.

In reality, this is part of the deal that will also see Miralem Pjanic head to Barcelona, but the Bosnian's move has not yet been announced. He passed his medical examination and the transfer was completed.

The two clubs agreed a deal in principal last month, but it has taken some time to convince Arthur to make the move to Italy. Maurizio Sarri now has Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey, Rodrigo Bentancur, Sami Khedira, Blaise Matuidi and Pjanic at his disposal, as far as midfielders are concerned.
