Rain forces NASCAR to postpone Charlotte II to Thursday

Rain forces postponement of NASCAR Cup Series race

In addition, because of that change, Saturday's Xfinity Series race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway will be moved from Saturday afternoon to 7 p.m. ET Monday because TV crews and equipment have a longer turnaround time due to social distancing guidelines.

Rain forced NASCAR to postpone Wednesday's Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway to 7 p.m. ET Thursday.

The race's starting lineup was determined by the results of Sunday night's NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600. Jimmie Johnson finished second, but was later disqualified after failing post-race inspection.

The race will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports 1, and will remain on FS1 should rain showers force the event to be postponed to Thursday.

On Monday, Kyle Busch pulled off a last-lap pass on Austin Cindric to win the Xfinity Series race.

For those wondering, a NASCAR race becomes official once it reaches the halfway point, which is lap 104 tonight.

Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron and Alex Bowman will start from the pole, while Coca-Cola 600 victor Brad Keselowski will start 20th.

It will be the fourth Cup Series race since NASCAR returned to action from a two-month coronavirus shutdown 10 days ago.

The rain has delayed a second Cup Series race at Charlotte.
