N'Golo Kante allowed to stay away as Chelsea train

N'Golo Kante has not trained with Chelsea since Tuesday

N'Golo Kante missed Chelsea's training session on Wednesday due to fears of coronavirus.

'It's been really good to get some work into the players, ' he said, in an interview with BBC's Football Focus.

On Tuesday, it was announced that there had been six positive tests across three Premier League clubs, including one from Watford defender Adrian Mariappa.

"From the managers' meeting we had last week, from the players who want to play football, all of us want to do it [return to action]", said Lampard. I felt, and we all felt, that when we finished, we were so into it. All these things need to come together and hopefully we can get our game back'.

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante runs with the ball during the English Premier League football match between Chelsea and Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge in London on 12 January 2019.

Kante is said to be anxious about his health and has been given permission to stay away from training, despite having attended on Tuesday.

The France World Cup victor decided against training on Wednesday.

A number of BAME players across the league have been reluctant to return to training.

Black and ethnic minorities are at greater risk of serious illness if they contract the virus, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The 29-year-old, though, did return on Thursday to undergo a second round of coronavirus testing.

Phase one training began at Premier League clubs this week with hopes that the season, suspended on 13 March, can resume in mid-June.
