The mother of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has died of Covid-19, the Premier League champions have confirmed.

"Everyone at Manchester United is saddened to hear this bad news".

On its official Twitter account, City said that Dolors Sala Carrió, 82, had passed away near Barcelona, Spain. She was 82-years-old.

Tottenham and Brighton are among the top Premier League clubs who have sent their condolences to Pep for the loss.

Pep Guardiola's mother has died after contracting the coronavirus, Manchester City have confirmed.

The donation was sent to the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation for purchasing medical equipment.

Dolors saw Guardiola win six Spanish titles and the European Cup as a player at Barcelona, while he has won many titles as a manager with Barca, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

According to the latest numbers from Johns Hopkins, Spain has had 135,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19, second only to the United States, and more than 13,000 deaths, second only to Italy which has suffered nearly 16,000.
