Lee Fierro, ‘Jaws’ Actor, Dies of Coronavirus at 91

Fierro was a scene-stealer in Steven Spielberg's famous thriller Jaws, in which she played the mother of the great white shark's second victim.

Lee Fierro, who had a memorable role in Jaws, has died from complications of coronavirus.

Fans of the movie will remember the explosive scene where Alex was attacked off the shore of Amity Island, prompting Fierro's character to storm up to police chief Brody (Roy Scheider) and slap him across the face.

"We will miss her terribly".

A resident of Martha's Vineyard, Mass., for 40 years, Fierro died in an assisted living facility in OH, where she moved to be closer to family in 2017, according to the outlet.

Her character also returned in Jaws: The Revenge in 1987.

During her time at the Island Theatre Workshop, Fierro also appeared in many theater company productions and mentored more than 1,000 children.

Ryan added, "She was a good friend, mentor and a very busy community member when she was in Martha's Vineyard".

Lee was also a drama teacher at the Island Theatre Workshop, the paper reports, before she moved to OH to be closer to family in recent years. She spent 40 years here on the Vineyard.

A small service, due to the social distancing rules in place during the coronavirus pandemic, is being planned by Fierro's family in Ohio.

Fierro is survived by her five children, seven grand-children and seven great-grandchildren.
