The Body Coach fitness author and broadcaster's attempt to keep the nation's children fit during the coronavirus crisis got off to a flying start on Monday morning when more than 800,000 people tuned in to watch his first PE session of the week.

Joe used to host Joe Wicks: The Body Coach on Channel 4, which aired for two seasons in 2018. "We haven't got the budget".

Joe, better known as the Body Coach, broadcast an easy-to-follow 30 minute workout on his YouTube account at 9am this morning, with more than 806,000 families across the United Kingdom tuning in to exercise.

At the start of Monday's nearly 40-minute session, Wicks said: "I'm going to be your PE teacher for the nation", before adding that, while he thought it was just going to be for the United Kingdom, "it's turned out to be so much bigger".

"It's a workout specifically designed for kids", the trainer wrote on his Instagram.

"I'm going to do this every single Monday to Friday until our schools are back open and the kids are back in school".

"I'm going to take over".

Craig Shimmon, from Suffolk New College and Suffolk Rural, said: "What Joe Wicks is doing is great and as a college, we are keen to make sure everyone stays fit".

"I've got mums, dads and even grandparents having a go, there's no equipment and you can do it in your living room".
