Phillip Dorsett is reportedly signing with the Seattle Seahawks

Report Seahawks sign former Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett

The Seattle Seahawks' offense just got a bit faster as former Patriots' wide receiver Phillip Dorsett is heading to the Pacific Northwest. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network later reported that it's a one-year deal for the former Patriots wideout.

New England's wide receiver depth chart now features Julian Edelman, Mohamed Sanu, N'Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, and Gunner Olszewski.

"Seattle felt the best opportunity to be the player I know I can be as a WR", he told Anderson, adding that he's already spoken with quarterback Russell Wilson.

Dorsett addresses another need for Seattle, providing depth and additional speed on the outside for quarterback Russell Wilson. Shows you his work ethic. Last season, Dorsett caught 29 passes, but averaged 13.7 yards per catch and scored five touchdowns. The receiver played his first two seasons in Indianapolis and the last three years in New England. He had 29 receptions (54 targets) for 397 yards and a career-high five touchdowns in 14 games (four starts) for the Pats in 2019. As the offense looked to put more emphasis on recent acquisitions like Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon, and Mohamed Sanu, Dorsett's snap counts and production went backward. He was part of a Super Bowl championship team with New England in 2018, catching two touchdown passes in the postseason. Between Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, David Moore and Dorsett, Seattle has no shortage of speed at receiver.
