Coronavirus: Fury-Wilder trilogy could be pushed back to October - Arum

Triple H Takes Shot At Boxing Star Deontay Wilder

Fury beat Wilder by seventh-round TKO on February 22 in Las Vegas, Wilder's first career loss and costing him his WBC heavyweight championship belt.

With Nevada casinos closed and travel from Europe to the US.

The fight was originally targeted for July 18 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but Top Rank chairman Bob Arum said the fight has been rearranged.

Should Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III be postponed?

Asked if the fight could be staged in fourth months' time, Arum told ESPN: "Clearly not".

"If the Pulev fight can't take place we may end up seeing that fight [against Fury] happen later this year. We couldn't convince them or ourselves", Arum said.

"Where were they going to train for that?" It just made no sense. You just have to step back.

'How are you going to sell tickets? Moreover, it's possible the fight could be pushed even later in the year, or even to the next, should the coronavirus pandemic cause a longer halt to sporting action across the globe than anticipated.

Fury always brings heavy support from England if he fights overseas with thousands of fans flocking to the United States for the previous two fights with the 'Bronze Bomber'.

"So everybody has to take a step back. Boxing is not isolated", Arum said. However, any hopes of that happened have been diminished following the outbreak of the Coronavirus, which has impacted all of the major sporting competitions around the world, including Serie A, National Basketball Association and the Olympic Games. "So possibly the fight will be in early October".

Eddie Hearn, the promoter of heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been frustrated by this latest news. Wilder exercised the rematch clause in his contract for an immediate third fight to take place as early as the summer as part of another joint venture pay-per-view between ESPN and Fox.

Fury, who handed Wilder the only two blemishes on his previously flawless pro boxing record - a split draw in their 12/1/2018 fight and a seventh round TKO loss in their 2/22/2020 rematch - worked the WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view back on 10/31/2019, defeating "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman via count-out.
