Chef Floyd Cardoz dies of COVID-19 in New York City

Chef Floyd Cardoz is the first reported case of corona death in the U.S., today. "Floyd Cardoz the world renowned chef - with his own Restaurants in New York - Chez Floyd, then lately Bombay Canteen, O Pedro and restaurants in Bombay and Goa has succumbed to the Corona virus in New Jersey RIP" On Tuesday, it was reported that he had been tested positive in New Jersey.

Cardoz also said that he had admitted himself into the hospital "as a precautionary measure" after "feeling feverish" in a post on his personal Instagram account on March 17. "Mr. Cardoz flew back to NY from Mumbai via Frankfurt on March 8, 2020", the company said. "As a precautionary measure we have informed the Health Department in Mumbai about the same", it said.

Cardoz died from complications from coronavirus at Mountainside Medical Centre in New Jersey on Wednesday, March 25, PEOPLE confirmed with the late chef's Hunger Inc. hospitality group.

Chef Floyd Cardoz, victor of season 3 of Bravo's Top Chef Masters competition series, died Wednesday of complications from coronavirus. Cardoz also appeared on season 2 of Netflix's Ugly Delicious, a docuseries which follows award-winning chef David Chang around the globe. More recently, at Bombay Sweet Shop there was a sense of pride in what the team at Hunger Inc, in which he was a partner, had created.
