Trump to attend Daytona 500

Reports: Donald Trump Expected to Attend Daytona 500

"The Daytona 500 is one of the greatest events in sports and the prestigious season-opening event to the NASCAR Cup Series". "Gentleman, start your engines", has been a staple of races around the country and world for decades.

While the White House has not officially confirmed whether or not the president will attend, there are several hints.

Denny Hamlin won the Daytona 500 past year, while Austin Dillon claimed the victory in 2018.

Trump is the third sitting president to attend a race at Daytona, but only the second to attend the Daytona 500. His father, former president George H.W. Bush, attended a July race at Daytona in 1992 and Ronald Reagan attended a race in 1984.

Trump is scheduled to spend part of the Presidents Day weekend at his private club in Palm Beach, Florida.

The U.S. Secret Service, the agency responsible for the president's security, also tweeted out that there will be a "No Drone Zone" in place during the race.

During an appearance at the White House a year ago with 2018 Cup Series champion Joey Logano, Trump said of the sport: "You never forget what matters most - God, family and country".

"And I can't wait for President Trump to show up and for all of the race fans to acknowledge him and just to have that fun atmosphere of a president at the Daytona 500". "All I want to do is just go home".
