'The Green Knight' Trailer: A New Fantasy Epic From A24

Dev Patel in The Green Knight

The Green Knight stars Dev Patel as Sir Gawain, the reckless nephew of King Arthur who is looking to make a name for himself.

"The Green Knight" is one of two high-profile summer releases Patel is leading, following "The Personal History of David Copperfield" (in theaters May 8 from Searchlight Pictures).

The lead character played by Dev is ready with a sword to lock horns with a huge green skinned evil who wants to ruin the surroundings.

The studio, who had a strong awards season with the likes of Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse, the Adam Sandler-starring Uncut Gems, Independent Spirit Award Best Feature victor The Farewell and Midsommar, is making a big push for Green Knight. Through a combination of his will, wits, and sheer strength, Sir Gawain must overcome all obstacles to secure his honor and earn his legendary status in the kingdom.

If David Lowery - the guy who made A Ghost Story, Ain't Them Bodies Saints, and The Old Man & the Gun - isn't on your list of your favorite up-and-coming directors, we don't even want to talk to you.

The film stars Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Lion), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl), Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby, The King), Sarita Choudhury (Lady in the Water), Sean Harris (Mission: Impossible - Fallout), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones), Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, The Eternals) and Ralph Ineson (Game of Thrones).
