The Mamba Sports Foundation, founded by the late basketball superstar Kobe Bryant, has changed its name to honor his daughter Gianna, who perished with him in a helicopter crash last month that took the lives of all nine passengers on board.

In an Instagram post earlier, Vanessa poured out her her grief over the death of her husband and daughter.

There will be a public memorial for Kobe, Gianna and the other victims on the 24th of February at Staples Center, where Bryant featured for most of his 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Gianna shared the same love for basketball as her dad, and she wanted to someday play for the University of CT.

"Our mission remains the same - and stronger than ever - to provide opportunities to young people through sports". "Thank you for all the prayers".

"Because there is no #24 without #2, we have updated the Mamba Sports Foundation to now be called the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation", Vanessa Bryant, Gianna's mother, said in an Instagram post. "We definitely need them".

Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation is part of the Mamba Sports Academy, an organization Kobe co-founded in 2018.

On January 6, the National Basketball Association player Kobe and his daughter Gianna, along with seven other people, lost their lives after a helicopter they were travelling in crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, California.

Gianna Bryant's memory will be part of her father's foundation. The helicopter was on its way to a girls' basketball game when it crashed.

2 Chainz also got new tattoos to remember Kobe, as he revealed a number two on his right and and four on his left, representing the sportsman's number 24 jersey when he retired.
