Suspected Banksy artwork has appeared in his home city of Bristol

Banksy Valentine's Day Mural

Banksy is the artist behind a new mural that surfaced on the side of a home in the southwestern city of Bristol in England this week, according to a Valentine's Day post on his official Instagram account.

The work is expected to bring increased visitors and tourists to the Barton Hill area of Bristol, as people from around the world continue to visit the city where Banksy is from and where so many of his graffiti pieces are on display.

It seems to show a young girl firing a slingshot of flowers - possibly in relation to February 14th.

Bristol Somali Community Association, based in Barton Hill, tweeted about the artwork after it was spotted. His daughter, Kelly Woodruff, spoke to The Guardian about the piece after learning about it on Facebook.

The family are looking to cover up the artwork with glass to preserve it.

He also posted an image of the new artwork to his website.

'We hope it's Banksy's work.

Banksy's street art often draws attention to social issues by adding elements of darkness to otherwise joyful scenes.

"Come and have a look yourself".

Banksy has not revealed any information about the mural, but the subject matter and the timing suggest a connection to Valentine's Day.

"I think #Banksy is trying to tell us something", wrote @JennytheM.

However, the Bristol piece had not appeared on either on Thursday morning.
