Lynn Cohen, best known for her portrayal of Miranda's nanny Magda on Sex and City, has died.

The news was originally reported by Broadway World.

While Magda was very much a fixture in the show as Miranda's (Cynthia Nixon) nanny after she gives birth to her son Brady, it is astounding to realize that Cohen only actually appeared in 13 episodes of the six-season series.

Sex and the City star Lynn Cohen has died at age 86.

She was previously married to Gilbert L. Franzen for three years until his death in 1960. She guest-starred on 12 episodes of the original series as Judge Elizabeth Mizener, and in myriad roles on Criminal Intent and Special Victims Unit.

Cohen's numerous television credits include roles in Nurse Jackie, Damages, Masters of None, The Affair, Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Med, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, according to her IMDb page.

Cohen's career started all the way back in 1983, when she appeared in the Kate Nelligan-starring drama Without A Trace. The actress also took on the role of Golda Meir in "Munich" in 2005 and appeared in 2008's "Eagle Eye" as Mrs. Wierzbowski. In 2013, she played Mags in the movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

She made her Broadway debut in 1990's Orpheus Descending, and returned as part of the cast of Ivanov in 1998.

After many years in the Kansas City theater scene, Cohen moved to New York City in her 40s and had a burgeoning film and television career from then on.
