Red Bull boss Christian Horner predicts 'hard, tough, season'

Formula 1. The public presented the new car of Red Bull team

Red Bull has revealed the first shot of their new RB16 ahead of a shakedown at Silverstone on Wednesday.

As you can see, the auto retains its prominent Aston Martin branding, in what will be the latter's final year with Red Bull - Aston is set to take over naming duties for Racing Point for the 2021 Formula 1 season and beyond.

At first sight it appears the team, which won three races last year with Max Verstappen, will pick up from where it left off last year, its new contender looking a lot like its predecessor, save for a few minor changes.

Red Bull's prospects have also been boosted by Honda confirming it will continue to act as its engine partner, and also supply AlphaTauri, into 2021.

Max Verstappen was behind the wheel to put the first miles on the auto and check for any issues, with the team limited to a maximum of 100km on promotional tires under filming day regulations. "It's been a really positive winter; the effort that's gone in has been truly impressive, and I think further steps have been made on the power unit front and the chassis side and the integration of the power unit fully into the auto now is really a work of art. It's going to be a long, hard, tough season but hopefully we can put a really strong challenge together".

As mentioned, preparations for the new season will begin with a 100km filming day/ shakedown at Silverstone ahead of the first test in Barcelona, starting in a week's time.
