Modern Warfare Battle Royale Called "Call of Duty: Warzone;" Datamined Info Leaks

RUMOR: Key Art for Modern Warfare’s Supposed Battle Royale Mode, ‘Warzone,” Leaked

We're not sure what changed, but according to Kotaku's Jason Schreier, Treyarch - which last released Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in 2018 - is up to bat once again, and is reportedly planning another game in the Black Ops universe.

Don't forget, yesterday's patch also brought in a new Season 2 intro that explicitly teases battle royale (watch it here).

The art, which you can see above, first appeared in a now-deleted Reddit post (via Charlie Intel) made overnight.

The cinematic shows a plane dropping players into a map, with green gas - which is believed to be the BR mode's closing circle - surrounding it.

Since the artwork was spotted, a player has even glitched into a lobby menu for Warzone, further cementing its likelihood as the battle royale's official title. Ghost's appearance in the image ties it closely to Modern Warfare, and the fact that a "classified" option has joined that game's main menu suggests it will be available inside Call of Duty proper.

Will be STANDALONE free-to-play game this could SERIOUSLY be an insane game changer for the franchise. A name like "Call of Duty: Warzone" would certainly fit a project like that.

Trusted industry insider Daniel Ahmad commented on the rumors of Warzone, saying that the mode will be playable "soon enough".
