Former Cricket Captain Michael Clarke & Wife Kyly Separate After 7 Years Of Marriage

Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke and wife Kyly are getting divorced after more than seven years of marriage.

In a statement released to The Australian on Wednesday night, the couple revealed they had split up after "living apart for some time".

The two have split on a United States dollars 40 million divorce settlement, according to media reports.

After moving out from their $12 million Vaucluse home in Sydney's eastern suburbs, Clarke has reportedly been living at his Bondi apartment for the past several months.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, the two said, "After being separated for a few days, we have taken a hard decision to stay apart as a couple".

"After living apart for some time, we have made the hard decision to separate as a couple, amicably", a statement from the couple read.

The couple, who met while at Westfields Sports High School in Fairfield in the 1990s, continue to train together at the same Rose Bay gym and Clarke picks up his daughter for preschool.

The duo further requested for privacy so that they can "manage the next stage of their lives".

Micheal Clarke is one of the modern-day greats and one of the finest batsmen to have played for Australia. He lead Australia to 5-0 Ashes whitewash in 2013/14 and a World Cup title, before retiring from worldwide cricket in 2015.
