Sherman: 49ers were 'ready' for Packers again

NFC Championship rematch should answer whether talent gap or coaching gap was bigger factor in Packers Week 12 blowout loss to 49ers

I think it's fair to say that the Packers were both over-matched and out-coached in their first game against the 49ers, but a second game between the two teams should help us understand which issue was bigger. Considering the field position, it was likely four-down territory for the Niners, allowing Shanahan to call a run in a spot normally reserved for a throw. But the Green Bay offense was sluggish in the first half, and did not get on the scoreboard until midway through the third quarter.

Raheem Mostert also deserves much of the credit, and the extra week of rest he'll get between Sunday's win and the Super Bowl on February 2.

Mostert ran for four touchdowns, covering 220 yards on the ground.

The 49ers a year ago finished 4-12 and picked second in the 2019 National Football League draft. Garoppolo finished the game with eight attempts and completed six of them for 77 yards.

The only players with three rushing touchdowns and 150 rushing yards in an AFC or NFC Conference Championship Game (since 1970) are Mostert and Pro Football Hall of Famers Thurman Thomas and Emmitt Smith.
