Rumours had been swirling about an animated film adaptation for a while, but a recent report from Redanian Intelligence discovered the involvement of The Witcher season one writer Beau DeMayo earlier this week.

And thirdly, there's "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher", the social media smash-hit of late-2019, the spawner of a thousand parodies and terrible, *just awful*, metal cover versions.

Fantasy show The Witcher is set to be Netflix's biggest ever original how, the studio has said. The song quickly inspired several remixes as many fans of Netflix's The Witcher couldn't get enough of the tune. It's yet another reason for viewers to continue tossing coins at Netflix.

Composed by Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli and sung by actor Joey Batey (playing the bard character Jaskier), "Toss a Coin" was a bona-fide viral hit nearly immediately as Witcher fans clamored for the track to be released on a streaming platform.

In its quarterly investor letter Tuesday, Netflix said it saw its best result yet for a first-season original TV series with The Witcher.

The Witcher world is expanding on Netflix. There's more! Toss A Coin To Your Witcher is available now when you pre-order the album.

"We wanted Jaskier to be like the Freddie Mercury of the Continent", Belousova told The Post, referring to the fictional world in which Jaskier becomes a star bard committed to hyping Geralt's heroism. The composer urged fans to let Netflix know how much they wanted the soundtrack, and the streaming service listened, as evidenced by the tweet announcing the release date.

The film is now in development from The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, writer Beau DeMayo, and Korean animation company Studio Mir - notable already for The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender.

The Witcher is now available on Netflix.
