Haaland bags 20-minute hat-trick on Dortmund debut

Erling Braut Haaland puts his arms out in celebration after completing his hat-trick on his Borussia Dortmund debut

Erling Haaland impressed in his Borussia Dortmund debut, scoring three times in the second half of his team's 5-3 win over Augsburg.

The rising Norway star completed hit hat-trick with 11 minutes of normal time left to make it 5-3 to Dortmund, keeping his composure to side-foot beneath Koubek after being played in by Marco Reus.

Marco Reus says he hopes new Borussia Dortmund signing Erling Haaland can replicate the success of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Norwegian scored a hat-trick on his debut.

The striker, who was heavily linked with Manchester United this month, only entered the fray in the 56th minute before finding the net with his first touch three minutes later.

Reyna is the son of former US internationals Claudio Reyna and Danielle Egan Reyna.

Niederlechner already had a goal ruled out for offside before a mistake from Thorgan Hazard opened the door for the home side's opening goal in the 34th. The goal was soon cancelled out however, with Brandt manoeuvring his way into space into the box and unleashing an unstoppable shot to pull one back for the visitors.

Dortmund, meanwhile, keeps pace in what's become a hotly contested race for the top four spots, and also keeps Bundesliga-leading RB Leipzig in its sights. Freiburg beat host Mainz 2-1, and Werder Bremen won its relegation six-pointer at Fortuna Dusseldorf 1-0.
