'Super Mario Maker 2' Gets Free 'Zelda' DLC'

New Updates Are Coming To Super Mario Maker 2 Including An 8 Bit Styled Link

Version 2.0 also brings new "Ninji Speedruns" into the mix, which is a new mode that allows you to create courses specifically for the goal of speedruns.

Super Mario Maker 2 is getting a free update this Thursday that adds a bunch of new enemies and blocks for players to build levels out of, including one that will transform Mario into Link. The video showing off all updates can be viewed in the player below!

Your new look isn't just cosmetic - as Link, Mario can use the Master Sword to pull of dash attacks and down thrusts to cut through enemies. Link's bombs also allow some walls that would normally be impassable by Mario and friends to be blown up and clear a new path.

After downloading the version 2.0.0 update, the new Master Sword item will be available to use exclusively in the 8-bit Super Mario Bros. style. During the event, players will be ranked by their play time in that course and can collect new stamps and Mii costumes.

Finally, elsewhere in this update, there's a new speedrun mode. New items with Frozen Coin, P Block, and Dash Block.

The Spike enemy spews massive spike balls and launches them at Mario.

Pokey: The iconic stacked cactus from multiple Super Mario games joins Super Mario Maker 2 for the first time. You'll see ghosts of other players' runs - represented by Ninji - as you play, giving you an idea of where you need to improve in order to snag the record.
