Shelby GT350 & GT350R Heritage Edition Package pays tribute to greatness

Just when we thought carmakers are slowly winding down for the holiday rush, along comes Ford with a new Heritage Edition Package for the Shelby Mustang GT350 and GT350R.

The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a bargain supercar, but only if you pay close to its $73,995 sticker price. This track-ready auto will offer an fantastic growl and show to be comfortable on the street thanks to the MagneRide suspension which offers incredible aerodynamic components resulting in improved ride, stability and handling for both road and track, according to Ford.

Its objective is to celebrate 55 years since the original GT350 fastback coupe rolled out onto the public road and racetrack, driven to victory at the Green Valley Raceway by the one and only Ken Miles.

Ford is offering the iconic livery to mark the 55th anniversary of the original 1965 Ford Shelby GT350R (officially the GT350 Competition).

Ford Authority found a dealership in Sterling, Virginia that wants $145,890 for the Shelby Mustang. First things first, the Wimbledon White paintwork contrasts rather nicely with Guardsman Blue on the sides as well as the full-length race stripes. GT350Rs equipped with the pack also receive black seats with red accent stitching. These include revised front chassis geometry for improved steering feel, plus revised antilock braking and MagneRide tuning for optimized aerodynamic components resulting in improved ride, stability and handling for both road and track.

"Looking back, what Ford and Carroll Shelby created in the mid-1960s was very important for Mustang", said Jim Owens, marketing manager for Ford Mustang, in a statement Thursday.

The company added: "Shelby GT350R gets a redesigned high-trail steering knuckle leveraged from the all-new Shelby GT500 for 2020". Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R are proudly built with foreign and domestic parts at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. Combined with a new steering rack and a revised electric power steering system, the Shelby GT350R poses a serious threat to the GT500 in terms of faster lap times. That's why when Ford announced that it would offer a Heritage Edition package for the 350 twins, we all received twitter.
