Halo: Reach launches on PC and Xbox

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is live now on Steam for $40/£30/€40, or you can go for Halo: Reach by itself (it's currently the only game in the collection that's been released) for $10/£7/€10.

Questions about mod support for Halo: Reach have been raised in the past. And as more Halo gets added to the Master Chief Collection on PC, it should at least make for some regular spikes over the next year, starting with the original Halo when that gets added early next year.

Microsoft Store & Steam - The Halo: The Master Chief Collection bundle is available today for $39.99 Dollars, which includes Halo: Reach and will automatically update with the remaining titles as they launch next year.

A lot of PC gamers are apparently excited about Halo games coming back to PC, as Halo: MCC is now the top-selling game on Steam. Steam is more integrated with its online options, letting you use the Steam interface to invite players to your game. The Halo: MCC anthology is now priced at $39.99 on both Steam and the Microsoft Store, and developers 343 Industries is expected to release PC ports of Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 over the course of 2020. A better comparison is with Destiny 2, GTA 5 and Rainbow Six: Siege, games that have fairly stable player bases and are consistently in Steam's top 10 games themselves. You can either buy each instalment as they release for $9.99/£6.99 each (or $4.99 for Halo 3: ODST Campaign) or buy the entire collection now for $39.99/£29.99 and, as with Game Pass, get each game as it releases.

With the Halo: Reach launch imminent, players have been posting their lingering questions to the official Halo Reddit, and one of the queries raised included whether Halo: Reach on PC will launch with mod support. Don't fret if you bought the game on Steam, but your friend bought it through Xbox Game Pass on the Windows Store. He emphasized, however, the priority was getting the games "right", with security and anti-cheat a big focus on PC.
