Gamecock volleyball earns back-to-back NCAA tournament berths

BYU volleyball returns to the NCAA tourney as a No. 14 seed

The match will be at 4:30 p.m. Texas A&M and St. John's will play each other for the first time in program history on Thursday.

The NCAA volleyball tournament field includes four teams from Kentucky and two were chosen as top-16 seeds and will host first- and second-round matchups this week.

Six Southeastern Conference teams made the tournament: No. 9 Kentucky, No. 10 Florida, No. 13 Texas A&M, Missouri, Georgia and SC.

The tournament game at the Smith Fieldhouse begins on Friday, December 6 with BYU pairing against the State of New Mexico (27-3) at 7 p.m. MT after a game between Utah and IL (16-13) in the other Provo first round match at 4 p.m. MOUNTAIN. Senior Mikayla Shields and junior Mikayla Robinson were also both named All-SEC honorees Sunday.

Southeast Missouri is 23-10 overall and was 12-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference before going on to win the league tournament with a 3-0 sweep against Morehead State.

MI is 20-10 overall and 13-7 in the Big Ten Conference, with its last win coming against in, 3-1.

Tickets to the first and second round in Lincoln will be available to purchase online at Huskers.com/tickets Sunday evening, or by calling 800-8-BIG RED beginning at 8 a.m. Monday. In 2018, SC advanced to the second round, defeating Colorado in the first round before falling to No. 2 seed Minnesota. Even with the impressive resume, the committee decided against adding the Coyotes as an at-large bid.

The Northern Kentucky Norse has a 19-12 overall record and 9-7 in Horizon Conference play.

The Hilltoppers' first-round opponent in Diddle Arena on Thursday is Kennesaw State. However, a loss in the MAC Tournament semifinals took away an opportunity for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
