UGA Twitter reacts to CFP rankings release

Alabama Crimson TIde head coach Nick Saban

"In the end, what it came down to - and again, much debate - Penn State has marquee wins against 14th-ranked MI and a road win at 18th-ranked Iowa". The two teams will play on November 23.

K-State is one of four Big 12 teams in the playoff rankings.

Does the committee care about how a team looks and is perceived, and would therefore put Alabama at the top of the rankings?

ESPN's Football Power Index, which ranks the Tigers No. 3 behind Ohio State and Alabama now, gives Clemson an over 95 percent win projection in its final two ACC games versus NC State (97.4) and Wake Forest (95.9) and just under 90 percent at SC (89.1).

In case you missed it (and you probably didn't), Clemson's 24-ranking run in the CFP top-four ended with a No. 5 initial ranking, behind Ohio State, LSU, Alabama and then Penn State. LSU is at Alabama on Saturday. Despite its No. 4 CFP ranking, Penn State still has the eighth-best odds now (24), per 538, and is virtually eliminated if Ohio State wins out (6 percent) - the two meeting in Columbus, Ohio on November 23.

As long as Clemson keeps winning, the Tigers should be OK. Utah (8-1) 9. Oklahoma (7-1) 10.

■ Iowa State at Oklahoma - The Cyclones came into the season ranked and considered maybe the third-best team in the Big 12. They have lost three times, but by a combined 10 points. The Bruins have won three straight games after a awful start and are still in control of their Pac-12 South championship hopes. The Utes have been dominant, but coach Chip Kelly could turn this into his first signature win at UCLA and ruin the Pac-12's hope of a Utah-Oregon title game matching 11-1 teams. Penn State's previous best start was at No. 7 in 2017.

Texas A&M at Georgia. The Bulldogs might be more at their level.

Clemson at SC.
