Trump Sycophant Lindsey Graham Says ‘Whistleblower’ Is From the ‘Deep State’

California Democrat No reason for whistleblower to testify

Republicans on the House intelligence committee have asked its chairman, Adam Schiff, to call as witnesses both Hunter Biden, who had business links to Ukraine, and the still unidentified whistleblower, who is known to work in the intelligence community. Will Hurd, R-Texas, said the impeachment inquiry "has been a partisan exercise from the very beginning". Rand Paul (R-KY) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), have called on Democrats to reveal the Ukrainian whistleblower's identity.

House Democrats are moving forward with their probe into allegations that Mr Trump pushed Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden, the former vice president's son and the 2016 election in order to help the President politically and that the White House took steps to cover it up. "We should be protecting the identity of the whistleblower", he told "Fox News Sunday".

While continuing to attack the inquiry process as tainted, Republicans signaled with Saturday's proposed witness list that they meant to try to turn the spotlight away from accusations that the president abused his power for political ends and instead would seek to discredit US intelligence findings, reaffirmed by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, that Russian Federation interfered with the 2016 election with the aim of aiding Trump.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who runs the inquiry, said in a recent letter to the committee's ranking Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., that the inquiry already "has gathered an ever-growing body of evidence - from witnesses and documents, including the president's own words in his July 25 call record - that not only confirms but far exceeds the initial information in the whistleblower's complaint". "I do not believe it was impeachable", he told the show. Trump has said he withheld the $400 million in aid to Ukraine because he was concerned the government was not doing enough to fight corruption. He said Republicans want to hear testimony from Hunter Biden. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said on CNN's "State of the Union".

Rep. Jackie Speier joins members of the House Administration Committee during a hearing on preventing sexual harassment in Congress in the Longworth House Office Building on Capitol Hill December 7, 2017 in Washington, DC.

Another Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney of NY, also rejected the call for Hunter Biden to testify. She is also on the Republicans' list of requested witnesses in the impeachment inquiry.

Another Democratic member of the committee, Jim Himes, said Sunday that when people hear from respected officials with first-hand knowledge of the pressure campaign against Ukraine "the president's defense. which is all these people had second-hand knowledge, that's going to crumble".
