Dion Waiters Reportedly 'Overdosed' on Gummies on Team Plane, Misses Heat Game

Heat Dion Waiters

Slater later reported that Waiters overdosed on "gummies", passed out, and had a seizure when he woke up. He was suspended for the Heat's National Basketball Association season opener last month due to "conduct detrimental to the team", and has only been listed as active and available twice over nine games.

Dion Waiters' name is trending on Twitter and the reaction is all over the place as expected.

Miami radio host Andy Slater reported that Waiters ingested too many "gummies" (presumably of the recreational-drug type and not vitamins) while the team was in flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles after its game Thursday vs. the Suns. The Heat, who fell to 6-3 with Friday's loss to the Lakers, have 73 games remaining on their schedule.

While teams have latitude to discuss player injuries, they are not allowed to discuss personal matters in other matters, including substance-policy situations.

Here is what we know for sure: Dion Waiters did not suit up for the Miami Heat Friday night due to "illness".

As in our original story, the Miami Heat have yet to comment.

Team reps did not respond to requests for comment from The Post.

Waiters was suspended earlier in the season for "conduct detrimental to the team" and has yet to play in a game for Miami this season.

The team had placed Waiters off limits to media following the opening-night suspension, saying he would be available for comment once he returns to playing status. He's also set to lose $1.2 million in bonuses if he misses four more games this season.

This summer, Waiters spoke about being "in a dark place" amid criticism previous year over weight and conditioning issues as he returned from an injury.

"Now a days with this social media ran world they laughed at me made jokes etc not knowing what I was battling or going through everyday".
