Bob Stoops Reportedly Set To Be Next Head Coach at Florida State

Reports: Bob Stoops Interested In Florida State Job

"I had to fire a friend yesterday and that was very hard".

After all, it's not a shock that Taggart was let go after a 9-12 record that included giving up 63 points to Louisville...oh wait, that was the previous coach. "See if we can get somebody in here and ready to go as quickly as possible". However, it's still somewhat shocking that Willie Taggart's tenure with the program didn't even last two full seasons. So has concern over how much it would cost to buy out his contract. Well, Taggart did have the worst record through six games at 2-5...no, that was actually also the previous coach.

Following the Seminoles' loss to the Miami Hurricanes in Week 10, the program chose to fire Taggart.

"I think very highly of Coach Taggart and wish him well, but in the interest of the university we had no choice but to make a change", Thrasher said in a statement.

"The questions were all asked about season ticket sales, about booster contributions". That's not including payments that may come due if the rest of the coaching staff leaves.

They started their head coaching positions at about the same time. The state of Florida would nearly certainly be able to pay it a lot more than it will earn at the XFL.

In the meantime, Odell Haggins will fill the role once again as Interim Head Coach.

Jimbo Fisher left the Florida State football program high and dry in a stunning move that resulted in him taking the Texas A&M job during the 2017 season.
