Microsoft’s October 2 event announced: Hardware yes, but there will be more

Microsoft will host its Surface event in New York on October 2

Today, however, the company sent out new invites for the event with a new teaser image.

Microsoft is expected to announce a new range of Surface tablets and laptops on the 2nd October, including Surface Pro tablets with USB-C ports and Snapdragon-powered Surface Gos.

Nadella was not present during last year's Surface event and his presence in the attendance this year indicates that there is likely to be some significant announcement from the event. Last year Microsoft had refreshed its Surface Pro and Surface Laptop lineup with a black option. And that could be a big hint as to what's to expect at the event.

Both CEO Satya Nadella and Surface head Panos Panay will supposedly be at this year's show, which suggests it could be a big deal.

According to ZDNet's report, the fall event of Microsoft will be about both devices as well as experiences. Although various sources claim that "Centaurus", the dual-screen PC that Microsoft builds to run Lite OS, will be launched in 2020, we might get a glimpse at the software that powers the device early next month. It could also talk about Windows Lite - an upcoming variant of Windows that's created to power new hardware.

Microsoft is planning to live stream this Surface event, and Pocket-lint will, of course, bring you the latest news as it happens.
