Joaquin Phoenix's Joker Won't Cross Over With Robert Pattinson's Batman

Joker 2019 Review

Streep is showing "The Laundromat", a Netflix film directed by Steven Soderbergh that dives into the story behind the Panama Papers documents leak.

Although Joker is pretty far from your standard comic book flick - it's not based on any comic storyline, and was more heavily influenced by the '70s works of Martin Scorsese than anything else - it is nevertheless the first film to be based on a comics property to take home the prize, and that's somehow not even the most impressive aspect of its victory.

Joaquin Phoenix is astounding - the physicality of his work is especially impressive. And he said, 'You're going to start acting again, this is what you're going to do.

During his acceptance speech, Phillips thanked, "Warner Bros. and DC for stepping out of their comfort zone and taking such a bold swing on me and this movie", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Although initially the first images of the Joker that was released were not liked by many, especially because they saw very little of the visual scene of this criminal in his clothes and makeup, this first trailer has arrived to change all those opinions, because just moments after its launch, the debate arose about whether Phoenix could overcome not only Jack Nicholson but also Heath Ledger himself in his interpretations of the Joker.

"It started becoming something more than I could have anticipated and it was one of the greatest experiences of my career".

The director, Todd Phillips opened up about the challenge of making a movie focusing on the Batman villain.

But if "Joker" makes it three-for-three by landing its own Best Picture nomination, it'll be the darkest nominee in the category since ... So, you hate to define it for people... and it's certainly not a political film...

"I think that it's really an empathy toward isolation and kind of what is our duty as a society I suppose to address people who slip through the cracks in a way", she told Variety. "And I am indebted to him for that because acting has given me such an incredible life", he said.

It's also proven to be quite divisive. Two days after winning the Golden Lion from the jury at the Venice Film Festival, "Joker" hit another festival and left the audience shaken with the astounding portrayal of madness delivered by Joaquin Phoenix in the title role.

"It seemed limitless, in how you could interpret the character and what you could do with it - it didn't feel like there were any rules", said Phoenix of playing the diabolical super-villain.

"After Monday's premiere, Collider's Perri Nemiroff wrote, "#Joker is one of the most unnerving movies I've seen in years.

We've yet to hear the full soundtrack for Joker, but if the trailer's eerie soundworld is anything to go by, we're definitely in for a treat.
