Dwayne Johnson gives an update on Kevin Hart after his auto accident

Dwayne Johnson is thankful that his pal Kevin Hart is recovering following a horrific vehicle accident last week, adding that the comedian is a "lucky man".

The comedian-turned-actor has been left nursing serious injuries after his auto veered off the road in Malibu, California, last week, and according to auto safety experts, his vehicle lacked key safety features that would've spared him many of his injuries.

He's appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show instead of Hart, who was supposed to be the singer host's first guest.

Speaking on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Johnson provided an update on Hart's condition - while poking fun at his height. "I connected with him today". He's bummed he couldn't be here, as you know, but I love the guy, he's one of my best friends. "These things happen in life and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his auto seat", he smiled.

"Honestly, I mean, thank God, it could've been a lot worse", Johnson told the host. So, he's a lucky man, and he knows it, too.

Taking a more serious tone, former professional wrestler Johnson, 47, added Hart was "doing very well".

Last week, his wife Eniko comforted fans that he is doing better and "he's going to be just fine".

Sources connected to the comedian tell us that Kevin is, in fact, walking again - as Tiffany Haddish mentioned Friday at the Harper's Bazaar ICONS event in NYC - but he's not almost as "good" as she made it seem.

The California Highway Patrol confirmed Hart sustained injuries in the 12:45 a.m. crash, reported ABC7.
