Cristiano Ronaldo Scores 4 Goals in Portugal's Rout of Lithuania

Cristiano Ronaldo scores four in Portugal win over Lithuania

The 34-year-old netted four times in Portugal's European Championship qualifier against Lithuania on Tuesday night, which means it has taken him a total of 160 games to claim the record.

Now within touching distance of Ali Daei's record for most worldwide goals scored by a player , the 34-year-old confirmed he's still eager to continue helping and hopefully scoring for his country.

"I'm having a good time, but the team was doing very well too", Ronaldo told reporters.

"I'm not only happy because of the goals I've scored, but also because of the level the national team has been at in recent years".

Fernando Santos, speaking about Ronaldo, added: "He's the best in the world, it's clear".

Serbia moved up into third place in the group with a 3-1 win at Luxembourg, with Aleksandar Mitrovic scoring twice.

On Tuesday, Ronaldo started from the penalty spot, following a handball with a clinical finish in the seventh minute.

Three minutes later, Ronaldo was left free in the area to sweep home Bernardo Silva's cross.

Three of the goals came during a 15-minute flurry in the second half, and the reigning European champions might have needed it more than it seemed.

Carvalho's goal, his fourth in 60 games, was a fitting reward for a player who keeps the Portugal midfield ticking over without getting much attention. The Fulham striker headed the visitors in front after 36 minutes and Nemanja Radonjic curled in the second 10 minutes after the restart.
