System Shock 2 Is Getting Its Own 'Enhanced Edition'

While System Shock 2 is on STEAM and GOG and is fully playable, several aspects of the game haven't aged very well and it will be interesting to see what changes Nightdive does to the vanilla game.

Fans of the series cannot only look forward to a re-imagined game but also a full new game - System Shock 3 - set to be released in the future. Watch the Medical Level gameplay from Nightdive's System Shock below.

Nightdive Studios announced today that it is working on an enhanced edition of System Shock 2. Although the release date wasn't confirmed, however Nightdive said the enhanced edition is "coming soon".

"You asked for it and we are working on it..."

Given the brevity of this statement, gamers will have to wait a little bit longer for additional details on a potential release date and features.

Nightdive Studios is now also working on a remake of the original System Shock. Now, the Washington based development team has set its sights on the second in the System Shock franchise.

Developed at Looking Glass Studios, System Shock 2's lead designer was Ken Levine, who went on to create Bioshock. It could be as simple as a 4K PC re-release, or it could be as ambitious as a multi-platform relaunch for one of the best sci-fi games of all time.

System Shock 2 celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and rather fittingly, the developer of the System Shock remake is bringing its sequel into the modern era.
