TV host apologises for 'insensitive comment' about Prince George ballet class

Prince George can't wait to begin ballet classes, and Lara Spencer is regretting ever questioning it.

American actor George Takei tweeted: "Lara Spencer on GMA mocked a 6-year old Prince George of the United Kingdom for taking ballet class".

Good Morning America is under fire after a segment involving Prince George. Lara Spencer on Good Morning America this morning revealed that on top of the usual second-grade courses, Prince George is also studying "Religious Studies, Computer Programming, Poetry, and Ballet, among other things".

Lara Spencer offered a mea culpa to Prince George after backlash surrounding a seemingly innocent on-air brouhaha at the child's expense.

Actor George Takei also weighed in, tweeting "Lara Spencer on @GMA mocked a 6-year old Prince George of the United Kingdom for taking ballet class. Laughing at boys who take ballet?"

Actress Rosie O'Donnell put a video on her Twitter account saying Spencer's comment was "ridiculous".

"My honest apologies for an insensitive comment I made in pop news yesterday", she wrote in conjunction with a picture of an open field and outdoor skyline. "From ballet to anything one wants to explore in life, I say GO FOR IT", she wrote. I fully believe we should all be free to pursue our passions.

Choreographer Brian Friedman, who has worked with stars such as Britney Spears and Beyonce, said the presenter should be "ashamed".

"I have so many male dancers that I have trained that have fantastic careers", she went on to say.

So You Think You Can Dance cast member Travis Wall reacted to the fallout by suggesting that before making similar comments in the future, to the GMA host she should "look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if you want to be a bully today". This adorable boy is being shamed by a grown woman on National Television in America for taking ballet! He will be able to shed more light on the art form and illustrate what it truly takes to become a professional ballet dancer.
