Famed Ivorian musician, DJ Arafat, dies in motor accident

According to BBC Afrique, he was a highly celebrated and accomplished Coupe Decale Artist. The 33-year-old has a huge following in the Francophone region.

"The death of artist DJ Arafat, his real name Houon Ange Didier, Monday, August 12 at 8 am (local and GMT), as a result of a traffic accident that occurred in the night of Sunday to Monday in Abidjan,"RTI said in tweet".

DJ Arafat was a motorbike enthusiast and many at time he would pull stunts on the road.

According to posts on social media, Ange Dider Huon, known by his stage name DJ Arafat, had been driving his motorcycle and hit a vehicle.

"He was admitted to the emergency room in a vegetative state. The medical teams tried to revive him in vain", a doctor from the hospital was quoted by Jeune Afrique on condition of anonymity.

He had referred to himself as the king of the dance music genre coupé-décalé.

He issued 11 albums, mainly of "coupe-decale" - a dance music form combining choppy rhythms with hip-hop-style vocals.

"Pls tell me it's not true! Not my brother! God why!"
