Now That's a Big Three! This Is Us Renewed Through Season 6

NBC has renewed This Is Us for three more seasons, and as silly as it sounds to be discussing the show's ending on the heels of that news, it does raise some interesting questions. Last month, creator Dan Fogelman said that the season three finale marked the drama's midpoint. "Dan [Fogelman] is a maestro and has a plan with this show, "Paul Telegdy, Co-Chairman at NBC Entertainment, told reporters on a press call Sunday morning, when asked whether these next three seasons are it".

Hit drama This Is Us has received a rare, unprecedented three-season pick-up by bosses at NBC.

For the 2018-19 season, "This Is Us" averaged a 3.79 rating in adults 18-49 and 13.8 million viewers overall in "live plus seven day" Nielsens, making it now the season's #1 entertainment series on any broadcast network in 18-49, as well as the #2 drama in total viewers.

This is not the first time the hit drama series has received a multi-season commitment at the network. The renewal will take the show through its sixth season, aiming to wrap up in 2022. "We have a plan for what we're going to do and I know what the plan is".

"We're keeping it open for now", he said.

Both new comedies will join the Thursday lineup: "Perfect Harmony" stars Bradley Whitford as a music teacher, and "Sunnyside" features Kal Penn, in a show about a disgraced New York City Councilman trying to help a diverse group hoping to become American citizens.

"At least the audience knows, the fans know, they're going to get three more seasons, which is nice we can commit", Ventimiglia added.

The cast includes Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, Michael Angarano, and Ron Cephas Jones. Won't it be on?

This Is Us returns Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT this fall on NBC.
